Bridie Nicholson Entered In World Transplant Games
Bridie Nicholson, a double-transplant recipient (pancreas/kidney) will travel later this year to Bangkok, Thailand, as part of a 28 strong Irish Team who will represent Ireland at the World Transplant Games.
Bridie now living in Sligo town and originally from Calry, developed diabetes at a young age. As a result of diabetic complications, she spent a number years on dialysis waiting for a transplant. Now she is free of both dialysis and diabetes.
A previous medal winner for Ireland, and winner of three gold medals at the recent National Dialysis and Transplant Games, this is Bridie’s third time representing her country at this prestigious world event.
With the opening of the new purpose built Petanque pitch in Sligo town, Bridie was one of the first people to join the Sligo Petanque club. She is presently training hard for the forthcoming games, under Killian, her coach. She is very pro-active by nature and she is a great inspiration to others.
Bridie works full time at Sligo Library Headquarters. We all wish her the very best of luck at the games.
